Advent Prayer: 3rd Sunday of Advent Lectionary Year A based on Mt. 11:2-11

Gracious, loving God,

You who created the wondrous mystery of the universe in which we live, And who continues to create and make new within us the hearts of all of us within your creation,

You who bring us the morning sun each day, and the moon and stars at night, Who has been part of every living thing on this earth, and whose very presence is within us and around us in this moment. We come to You in this quiet moment of reflection in adoration and praise. We hear of the foretelling of the Christ Child coming into our lives, and into history, The message brought to us by the songs of angels, proclaiming the coming of the baby Jesus, A reminder of Your enduring presence in our midst.

Lifted by your love, we look for signs of your presence in the day-to-day events of our lives.  We pray for moments of inspiration, times where we feel connected to a spiritual center.  And In this season of joyful discovery, we hear once again the message that You are with us, the Divine Presence as foretold by your prophets.  We hear once again the words of hope, that Your Son will be among us and provide us with His peaceful presence.

And in this sense of hope we reach out to those around us, those who are in need of prayer, of a kind word, or a gentle touch provided in Your Name.  Help us to stay aware of those who are ill, those who are depressed and withdrawn, those who especially need the reminders of your loving care.  May we be the messengers of that compassion and care that comes from your boundless love.

For we ask this in the Name of Your Son, our Savior, whose coming into our lives we celebrate today.
